Meet MCR: Andy Moy
Meet Andy, our Data Analysis Manager!
Name: Andy Moy
Position: Data Analysis Manager
How long have you been with MCR?
2.7 years
What made you want to work for the company?
I enjoy cannabis, spreadsheets, and resource management, thus creating a symbiotic relationship with the company
What does an average work day look like for you?
Usually I wake up around 11-11:30AM for work with two ounces of oatmeal and an egg for breakfast. From 11:30AM to 3:30PM, I’ll be checking emails, monitoring instrument performance, handling internal and external requests, routine meetings, and checking progress on various data processes. From 3:30PM-4:30PM, I’ll have lunch. Afterwards, I’ll be taking care of accumulated emails and requests before beginning to review or verify data. The database may need some maintenance as well and these data processes usually occupy me until dinner around 8pm. Throughout the day I’m also building spreadsheets, reviewing and editing reports from the day’s data, and then uploading them for clients. At the end of my day I’ll do one final sweep of all the instruments to see how they are performing and to schedule for the next day. Lastly, I’ll try to exercise for 30 minutes before bed.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
It’s good to know that my efforts have inevitably led to more instances of cannabis-based euphoria.
What is the most interesting fact you’ve learned about cannabis since you started at MCR?
It’s difficult to legally define what a cannabinoid is. As a result, not all cannabis products are illegal in all states, leading to the growing popularity of D-8 THC
What excites you the most about the rapidly growing cannabis industry?
Despite the quasi-legal status of cannabis in the country, despite the DEA’s reluctance to remove it from schedule 1 classification while simultaneously allowing medical research to be performed, despite the stigma instilled into previous generations by the rhetoric of the ruling class, it is still becoming the next cash crop simply because cannabis is that amazing of an organism.
What is your personal relationship like with cannabis?
Functional – I’ve learned to use it to control my appetite. I feel having more access to cannabis with less restrictions creates less anxiety, and paradoxically reduces consumption.
What’s your favorite strain?
Grandmaster Kush
What’s your favorite way to consume?
Vaporizing concentrates in a water piece
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to squat, smoke, and watch “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” not always simultaneously, but usually a combination.
